This is one of the few places I wish you could vote with negative stars. Before you call this place a vet, or an "animal hospital" be advised it's just a business. Wellness plan or not, the business model for Banfield has always been: admit the pet, find as many charges as you can, release and repeat. Expect to pay at least $100 per visit - even if everything is covered by your wellness plan the required medications are always premium dollar. Expect to spend at least an hour, appointment or not. If you're walking in - good luck to you. I tried a walk in at 4PM once on a Wednesday and was finally able to leave at 7:10 (they kept my dog in the back for an extra 10 minutes so they could charge the "After Hours Fee".)

They are always nice to your pet, When you have an appointment there is barely a wait, and they are always asking questions about what you want. They are probably the nicest

.

If you have a healthy animal and you just want to stay current on your shots and vaccines, this is a great place for you. If you have an animal with any illness or any injury, please take them to any other vet in the area. If your pet is an equal member of your family, take them anywhere else - Chartiers Valley Animal Hospital, and Robinson Animal Hospital are both within 10-15 minutes from this location.

My husband took in an outdoor cat that frequents our home because he had a terrible cough. He has a history of getting respiratory infections about once a year, but our normal vet didnt have an appointment available. We ended up at Banfield after they assured us that although we didn't have an appointment, they would squeeze us in. My husband arrived around 10 am with a sick cat and our 2 year old daughter in tow. He waited patiently until 2 pm before voicing concerns, still the staff assured they'd be seen. As you can expect, my daughter was losing her patience so I too, had to drive out to pick her up so my husband could continue to wait with the cat. After waiting all this time, we were frustrated but it seemed silly to leave at that point after waiting so long. We were also getting concerned for our poor kitty, already sick, having to wait HOURS in a crate. FINALLY AROUND 4 PM, after 5 HOURS of waiting, they took the cat back. They then became alarmed about the cat saying his oxygen level was very low, a high temp, and he had brown around his nose, which they assumed was blood he was coughing up. They started talking about all sorts of expensive treatments, keeping him over night, and oh, a late fee because they were seeing him after hours. We decided to take our cat somewhere else. At the next vet, they said his oxygen levels were fine, the brown was most likely mucus NOT blood, and his temp was slightly high which they actually said could be attributed to dehydration from sitting in a crate for over 5+ hours with little food and water. They gave us medicine for his respiratory infection and sent us on our way. I can't help but feel Banfield purposely had us wait until "after hours" to charge the extra fees. Their demeanor was also very alarmist, whether that be intentional or not to make us feel the situatiom was more emergent than it was. After waiting 5+ hours for essentially no treatment and feel like we were being extorted, I can say we will never, ever go back here again.

I find out now that there are 2 more bills scheduled to come out before the plan's original term is done. So the first question is, is it worth $250+ to try not to reopen my wife's grief? And second, will they call us to renew the plan? They seem cold enough to do just that.

.

3 months later I find out they are still billing us for a dead pet. When I call to resolve this, they insist on talking to my wife. That is THE ONE THING I tried to avoid. Its like they want to rub her nose in our dead son's dead dog's memory. This is not every close to acceptable.

Do not get wellness plans, they are heartless in their billing... I wish I could award negative stars.

The staff is hit-or-miss; we've enjoyed a few vets here for the maximum term of the 1 year they seem to last, but the majority of the vets are awful. Tipping the scales of terrible is Dr. Bogus (no, that's not a caricature; it's her actual name) who managed to take our healthy dog with a skin condition, and turn him into a deaf dog that is now terrified of the vet.

My dog hates going here though. Its hard for us to get him through the door. Also expect to be sitting in the waiting room for about an hour before you can even get checked in.

I had to put our family pet dog down due to many incidents of severe panic biting. At the time, I asked and pleaded many times to make sure that everything was stopped and cancelled to save my wife the repeated trauma of the memories, The dog was adopted by my youngest son who passed away 4 years ago. They assured me at the store they would cancel the wellness plan and not send any emails regular mail or phone calls. I had no problem paying the fees and charges for the sad, but necessary, procedure.
