Went to see PYSO. Very nice venue for them to play in. We will have to get back to check out the museum too.
An old-style in-depth museum where three long corridor walls are lined with large, deep display cases fronted by divided glass panels and dozens of other display cases fill the galleries and halls. Take your time and examine the exceptional quality artifacts and historical references. From start to finish expect to spend at least an hour here. Anyone interested in American battles and wars should make this a must-see on their list of places to visit in Pittsburgh. Don't forget to stop into the Memorial Hall (auditorium) if only just to see it's grand size.
A wonderful tribute to those who've served this country. All within a beautiful and historic building. Reserve several hours to tour everything.
I've attended several events here and each one has been great. Pitt Stop Lindy Hop has its large swing dance event here every year at the top floor in the ballroom. Its superb! I have also delivered a wedding cake here and its just seems to be a great venue for many events!
Very interesting historical collection. Large amounts of civil war knowledge especially. Leaves me feeling both in awe and conflicted regarding the time of African Americans in the civil war and the huge unacknowledged role slavery played in the building of the United States. More real history and a basic understanding on how much of our nation was built on the back breaking work of black people is needed.
