Nice little museum that gives a good overview of the early history of the area and of The Point. Building exterior is constructed to give a hint of what a section of the wall of Ft. Pitt was once like. Through the exhibits you will learn how the area was of strategic importance in the years when France and England and their various Native American allies were vying for control of the region and its trade routes and how it traded hands over time. Hard to comprehend this urban area as a wilderness outpost but this museum does a good job of helping one visualize that time.

I was surprised by this museum. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is full of interesting art, dioramas, artifacts and loads of history. Expect to spend 1.5 - 2.5 hours here depending on how much time you spend on exhibits. There is a great view on the second floor of the river. The staff were very friendly and open to questions.

However, depictions of particular events in the Fort Pitt Museum easily fall under "History Revisionism". A Museum's purpose should be to always provide the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Enjoyable and informative museum. A discount is offered to those who visit both the Fort Pitt Museum and Heinz Center in the same day!

This place is great! True and interesting facts about Pittsburgh and if you live in Pittsburgh you should go and check it out! The guided tours are great and our tour guide Mrs. Hutchison was knowledgeable and fun!!

This is a nice Museum that provides insights on parts of history that are usually overlooked.

I would still recommend you paying a visit to the Fort Pitt Museum; provided you keep an open-mind while consuming the contents (specifically on how the Native Americans' reaction to the events); Whitewashing History always makes you feel cheated out of it
