This is where Amnesty International was started in Pittsburgh.
The city's center for peace and social justice.
The Merton Center is the best place in Pittsburgh fighting for peace and justice.
I like this place because they are not in favor of greed.
I am hoping to be able to stop here when I am in Pittsburgh this summer because this center was founded by Molly Rush along with others. I have such admiration for her story of becoming more committed to living her faith through peace action. Her participation in the symbolic "beating swords into plowshares" in 1980 started the civil disobedience movement against nuclear weapons. I recommend Liane Ellision Norman's "Hammer of Justice: Molly Rush and the Plowshares Eight" (1989).
