This haunted attraction was a bit disappointing. There is so much hype surrounding the SCAREHOUSE that I was sure that I was going to be scared to death. Not so much.... This place is very big, it does take a while to get through, but the scare factor just isn't there. Nothing over the top or original. Same as every other "we're the best haunted house around". People hidden in the corner that yell BOO.
One of Pittsburgh's best haunted houses. Different themes every season, with more than one theme as you travel through the haunt. Masterful creations of mood and awesome, unique props. This haunt also participates in several community and charity events throughout the year, not just Halloween time.
I love the Scare House and go every year. The "hotel staff" that entertained us while we were in line were a lot of fun. (I did miss Princess Holly though.) The fog was a little much this year, and my throat burned a little from it. The actors did a great job and are very true to their characters. I didn't go in The Basement, but I talked to some people right after they came out of it, and they said it wasn't too bad. Not nearly as terrifying and hands-on as they had expected. Mostly a lot of in-your-face yelling and some water was poured on them. I can't confirm any of this since I didn't tour this part of the attraction, but I thought I would share what I had heard. I definitely recommend The Scare House at the General Admission price.
The attraction itself is fine, plenty of scares for your bucks. Lots of good people working inside and out to make it a good trip. But ...the WAIT. We had the sense to pick an early (7:30) trip, and when we got there about 7 the line was reasonable, but by the time we made it through the front doors there was a ridiculously long line outside and those were the "8:00" people. I'm thinking by 10 PM or so things had to get pretty bad out there. People that run these things (ALL of them, not just this one) need to back away from the cash cow, you cannot cram an infinite number of people through them. If they can't limit ticket sales and still make it work, they're not charging enough.
A very good haunted house, great scares, probably one of the best in Pittsburgh. Make sure to pay a visit next time its in season I would recommend. There is a special adult only area I did not visit so I do not know what's there but try it for sure.
